English

Answer: Brabantio often invited Othello to his house, where he met Desdemona, and they fell in love.

Explanation:

Othello is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare. It is a story about a powerful general of the Venetian army who is utterly betrayed by his deceitful friend, Iago.

In Act I, Scene III, Desdemona's father, Brabantio, argues she has been stolen from him by spells. The duke thus demands that Othello tells the whole story about his marriage to Desdemona. Othello admits that they got married, but insists that he did not use magic to persuade her to be with him. On this occasion, Othello explains that Brabantio invited him to his house, where they discussed his battle stories and journeys outside the civilized world. Desdemona overheard those stories, and wanted Othello to retell them to her. Impressed by what he had to say, Desdemona fell in love with Othello.

Purpose of casket scheme in merchant of Venice
Vera_Pavlovna [14]

answer: In the test, suitors are presented with three caskets: one made of gold, one of silver and one of lead. If the suitor chooses the correct casket, he wins Portia's hand. The gold casket is a symbol of greed and of materialistic and shallow people who value surface over substance.

(link attached) What is meant by the last line of the text? How did the Maginot Line serve as an example of this saying? Support
NikAS [45]

Hello. You did not enter the line of text to which this question refers. However, when researching your question, I was able to find a question like yours and realized that the line of text you forgot to present was “Generals always fight the last war”.

Answer and Explanation:

The line “Generals always fight the last war” means the existence of a faith that successful attitudes in the past will be equally successful in the present, even though the present and the past are completely different realities. The Maginot line serves as an example for this sentence because it achieved its goal of protecting France from German invasion during the First World War. Because of this success, it was used again as a strategy in the second world war. However, the two wars were very different, as were the German strategies, which meant that the Maginot line was no longer able to provide any protection to France, which was invaded by Germany.
