Answer

Find out the what is the new ratio of the number of geese to the number of hens .

To prove

As given

There are 6 geese and 9 hens on Mr. Thomson’s farm.

Mr. Thomson adds 6 more geese and 3 more hens to his farm.

Than

The number of geese becomes  = 6 + 6

                                                      = 12

The number of hens becomes  = 9 +3

                                                     = 12

The new ratio of the number of geese to the number of hens be

\frac{Number\ of\ geese}{Number\ of\ hens} = \frac{12}{12}

simplify

\frac{Number\ of\ geese}{Number\ of\ hens} = \frac{1}{1}

Therefore the  new ratio of the number of geese to the number of hens be 1:1 .

Consider the following function:y=1/(x+5)+2
Galina-37 [17]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Starting with the parent function, x was replaced by (x + 5), indicating that the graph of the new function is that of the old function shifted 5 units to the LEFT.  That +2 shifts this result UP by 2 units.

Dennis stood on a 9 foot ladder to measure the sunflower. How much taller is the tallest sunflower than the ladder?
Shalnov [3]

Answer:

See Explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Ladder = 9ft

Tallest\ Sunflower = x

Required

How much taller is the tallest

To get this, we simply calculate the difference between the height of the tallest sunflower and the ladder.

i.e.

Difference  = Tallest\ Sunflower - Ladder

Difference  = x - 9

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If for instance, the tallest is 13ft, then it is 4ft taller.

Because:

Difference = 13ft - 9ft

Difference = 4ft
