Amid the 1850s, there was a sectional emergency. The sectional emergency was a period in American history where each "area" of the United States went about as its own particular element without respect to the prosperity of whatever remains of the country. 

Fundamentally, every one of these occasions finished and started off the Civil War. It was the ideal tempest. The majority of the years preceding the sectional emergency, subjugation had been disregarded by Congress and no choices were made certifying or denouncing it.

Britain was able to become a global power by the 1700s becasue it was suitably positioned to control trade. Europe was also industrializing and was generally winning in European conflicts. Free trade with Scotland and Ireland created a larger market for farmers and manufacturers.

One advantage was that the North had more resources than the South. The North had more people, more minerals, more factories, more miles of railroad tracks, and more ships than the South had. These advantages helped the Union army when they were fighting the Confederate army.
