Answer: Dear journal, I'm not an outdoorsy kind of girl, but when my neighbor Adelle invited me to go camping, I could hardly tell her I was afraid of bears and snakes and pretty much any wild animal. I had images of waking up in the middle of the night, my tent shaking to the rhythm of growls. I couldn't let Adelle know I was afraid. So, I packed my bags and waited at the door the morning we were to leave. To my great surprise, I discovered that camping isn't at all how I imagined. The park ranger assured us that no bears had been seen in the last five years, and to my great surprise, Adelle's family had a pop-up camper, so we weren't even in a tent. Adelle did get to see my true colors, though, when we were hiking. We came across a snake in the middle of the trail, and I've never run so fast in my life. Snakes aside, camping's not so bad.

Read the excerpt from “Take the Tortillas Out of Your Poetry.”
Kruka [31]

Answer: C. an appeal to logic

<em>Take the Tortillas Out of Your Poetry</em> is a book by Rudolfo Anaya.

In this excerpt, the author cites an example of the censorship that his book has had to endure. He gives an account of how a high school class took the books outside and saw that they were burned. This is an appeal to logic as it uses concrete evidence to sustain the argument. Based on this event, we can logically conclude that Anaya's book has been the object of censorship.

PLZ Hurry i need this for tomorrow!!!
natulia [17]

Answer:

1: Anne kept scribbling notes in her WRITING journal.

2: Good WRITING takes a lot of practice, and a lot of editing

Explanation:

Participle is word formed from a verb and used as adjective or noun.

For example

A): In "<em>injured soldier"</em> we have an adjective <em>injured</em>, the word <em>injured</em> came from verb <em>injure</em>; hence it is a participle. However the phrase injured soldier as a whole is a noun.

B): in "<em>good cooking"</em>, <em>cooking</em> is a noun made from a verb <em>cook</em>; hence cooking is a participle.

1: In this sentence “Anne kept scribbling notes in her WRITING journal”, <em>writing</em> is a participle as it made from verb “write” and used as adjective.

2: In the sentence “Good WRITING takes a lot of practice, and a lot of editing” <em>writing</em> is participle as it is made from a verb “write” and used as a noun.

3: In “Tonight, I am going to WRITE a letter to my brother who is in the army” <em>write</em> is verb (not a noun or adjective) and hence it is not a participle.

4: In “Sadie WRITES letters to her brother every week” <em>write</em> is verb (not a noun or adjective) and hence it is not a participle.

A central idea of "Stopping by Woods on Snowy Evening" is that the speaker wants to admire the beauty of nature in the woods.
alexgriva [62]

Answer:

The speaker stops to see the snowfall in the woods but knows his responsibilities won't allow him to stay long.

Explanation:

The poem "Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening" by Robert Frost is a poem where the speaker is in a dilemma between his duty and what he wants to do. Stuck between admiring the snowy woods and his duty living in society places him in a contrasting position.

While the central idea of the poem is that the speaker wants to admire the beauty of nature, he also acknowledges that it is <em>"queer"</em> even for his horse to stop in the middle of the woods. But as a man living in a society, he <em>"ha[s] promises to keep, and miles before [I] sleep"</em>.

And through the presentation of how the speaker stops and admires the snowfall in the woods, he also knows that his responsibilities won't allow him to have this enjoyment/ leisure for a longer duration.

Thus, the correct answer is the third option.
