Why did the Founding Fathers create a process for amending the Constitution?

They did this because they knew things would change overtime that that we would need to be able to change the constitution accordingly. However the process to amending the constitution in a long one and it is very difficult to do so. <span />

The U.S. was still recovering from the effects of World War I.  Many Americans did not want to be involved in another global conflict.  As a result, they adopted a policy of isolationism.  Eventually the U.S. got involved in the war after the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor.
