History

Pretty much, the Communists were much stronger than the Nationalists. Their public support was strong due to promised land reform for peasants and their military organization was more experienced. The Nationalists had weak, public support and their military was ineffective, corrupt leadership and poor morale. They were an easy beat.
Hope this helps :)

Define and provide an example of a totalitarian state.
olasank [31]

Answer:

form of government that theoretically permits no individual freedom and that seeks to subordinate all aspects of individual life to the authority of the state. Italian dictator Benito Mussolini coined the term totalitario in the early 1920s to characterize the new fascist state of Italy, which he further described as “all within the state, none outside the state, none against the state.” By the beginning of World War II, totalitarian had become synonymous with absolute and oppressive single-party government.

Which of the following policies contradicts President Nixon’s desire to limit federal influence in the states?
Katena32 [7]

Answer:

As President, Nixon was only as conservative as he could be and only as liberal as he had to be. He took credit for the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency while privately noting that if he had not taken this liberal step, the Democratic Congress would have forced more liberal environmental legislation on him. This was a President who could philosophically oppose wage and price controls and privately express the conviction that they would not work, while still implementing them for election-year effect. Still his tactical flexibility should not obscure his steadiness of political purpose. He meant to move the country to the right, and he did.
