because of a – of chinese tea, britain passed the tea act, enabling the east india company to dump tea on the american market, w
WARRIOR [948]

In winter 1773, a group of colonists resisted this measure in an act that became known as the Boston Tea Party

The Boston Tea party became a political protest that occurred on December 16, 1773, at Griffin's Wharf in Boston, Massachusetts. American colonists, frustrated and angry at Britain for enforcing “taxation with out illustration,” dumped 342 chests of tea, imported via the British East India agency into the harbor. On April 27, 1773, the British Parliament passes the Tea Act, a bill designed to save the faltering East India company from bankruptcy by greatly lowering the tea tax it paid to the British government and, as a result, granting it a de facto monopoly on the american tea exchange.

In April 1774, the British Parliament handed the Coercive (or insupportable) Acts, which punished Massachusetts for the Tea party incident. The Acts no longer only took away home rule from Massachusetts, it forced all americans to board British troops in unoccupied homes.
