D. The princess has to discover which door conceals the lady and which tiger.
I think the answer is D, he talks about his soul never being able to get back up again, that sounds hopeless. I thought maybe B, because he talks about his hopes flying based off of someone leaving him before. But, D sounds like it fits better to me.
