Should college athletes be paid to play?

English

I believe that college athletes should not be paid to play. This is because the fact that such athletes are playing in a college team shows that the main purpose of such a team is to encourage the participation of students. Ultimately, the team is a part of the school, and it should be treated as such. By paying them, the team would most likely get further away from the spirit of the school and closer to the dynamics of professional sports.

The other side would most likely claim that the publicty athletes receive, the fans they have and the dedication they put into their game would justify them getting paid like professionals.
