Isabel knew it would be hard to make friends in a new school, but she didn’t know that it would be the biggest hurdle she had ever faced. On her first day, the sounds of friends shouting happily to each other, making plans and sharing jokes made her feel like everyone else was at a party that she hadn’t been invited to. Isabel saw a flyer for track team tryouts, but she was afraid she wouldn’t be good enough. She swallowed her fear and went to the tryout. She was terrified that no one would like her and she wouldn’t make the team, but she made it. At the end of the year, she realized her best friends were the people she met on that first team tryout.
