There isn't much explanation just read it up. Look at some documents or on wikipedia. Of course I have studied all of this but its pretty popular knowledge.
After World War I, Germany was still a very influential and big power. Germany was also a huge factor leading into World War II, so it maintained its strength for many decades. Austria-Hungary was a huge power in World War I, but lost its strength. The Ottoman Empire lost all of its strength and power following World War I.
Though the Declaration of Independence is not a binding legal document it did eloquently express the ideals of the new country, one of which was that the people control the government. This principle of<em> limited government</em> was later incorporated into the Constitution.
