The Britishers did not take the issue seriously and not even they tried to win the hearts of the colonists.

Further Explanation:

During the time of the revolutionary war, The British were thought to be a very class structured society. The people from the common class used to blindly trust and follow the lead of the political leadership which was there at that point of time and ruling the country and they followed that political leadership without any complaints. All the laws were made by members of House of Lords and all the members in house of lords belonged to elite class. People elected the representatives in House of Commons and they had some control on taxes. England felt that the colonies were required to Repay England the cost which it lost during French and Indian wars. But these taxes were opposed by colonists. England always regarded people of these colonies as lower class. People of England wanted people of these colonists to submit themselves to England just like other common people in England. The Britishers even thought that American colonists will bow down from fear of force but what happened was exactly opposite as Britishers were shocked by will power of American colonists to keep on fighting for 8 long years in order to get independence from British rule. The Britishers did not take the issue seriously and not even they tried to win the hearts of the colonists.
