Yes, in a function you cannot have two different images for the same x.

Because if an x has more than one image, you couldn't tell what is the value of the image given that x.

A cone has a diameter of 3 inches. The cone holds 12 cubic inches of water.
dmitriy555 [2]

Answer:

The  height of the cone is 5.09 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

The volume of the cone  =  12 cubic inches

The diameter of the cone  = 3 inches

To Find :

The height of the cone  =  ?

Solution:

We know that the volume of the cone is

Volume  = \pi r^2\frac{h}{3}

where

r is the radius of the cone

h is the  height of the cone

Now substituting the given values

12 = \pi (1.5)^2  \frac{ h }{3}

\frac{12}{\pi 2.25}  = \frac{h}{3}

h = \frac{12}{ 2.25 \pi} \times 3

h = \frac{ 12}{7.065} \times 3

h = 1.698 \times 3

h =  5.09  inches

What are equivalent expressions for 6(y-1) and 64x+80
snow_tiger [21]
To find equivalent expressions, distribute the first one and factor the second one.

6(y-1) \\  (6*y)+(6*-1) \\ 6y-6 \\  \\ 6(y-1)=6y-6 \\  \\ 64x+80 \\ 16( \frac{64}{16}x+ \frac{80}{16}) \\ 16(4x+5) \\ \\ 64x+80=16(4x+5)
