I'm guessing that when you're saying A is 4 units to the left and 3 units down, you're referring to the origin. In other words, point A is 4 units to the left and 3 units below the origin. If you're moving 4 units to the left, you are moving towards the negative end of the x-axis. So, your x coordinate is -4. When you're moving 3 units down, your moving towards the negative end of the y-axis. So, your y coordinate is -3. Your ordered pair is (-4, -3).
