  • France used workers from its colonies. Nearly 200 thousand workers went to France to work. More than half of these men went to France from North African colonies such as Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia. Other 50 thousand went there from Indochina - Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia - and 5 thousand from Madagascar. France also recruited 500 thousand soldiers from Colonies.
  • France feared the Germans, because of this they created the Franco-Russian alliance, this would give even more strength to France as it would create a two-front war for the Germans.
