When writers use another word that names something that is in some way related to the original thing, and describes one of its qualities or features, they are using a figurative language called <em>Metonymy</em> . For example: "Crown" can refer to power or royalty; "Wall Street" can replace Financial Industry in America, and "Hollywood", the film industry.
I would say maybe a narrative poem. If you want to capture the moment of when you saw a shooting star, then maybe you should tell it like a story but poem form.
