Urban merchants and Kshatriya oligarchs.

Brahman priests and monarchs.

Explanation:

Many of the people who supported Buddhism were urban merchants and Kshatriya oligarchs. These people actually thrived off of Buddhism, and with the increasing of trade, more people would turn to Buddhism, especially the merchants who would trade and travel consistently, spreading the religion even further.

Brahman priests and numerous monarchs actually thought of Buddhism as a threat. The Brahman priests saw Buddhism as an ultimate enemy, as the Hinduism that the Brahman priests practiced contradicted and went against the Buddhist views. With more people turning to Buddhism, this made Hinduism become more rare and less widespread.

What are the characteristics of the Middle Colonies?
weeeeeb [17]
What / or who are they: Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey

Why middle: These were the 4 of the 13 original colonies that were between the northern and southern colonies.

Religion: this is the sentence you really like to write. There were all sorts of religions present, but not one of them could dominate. These 4 colonies had Lutherans, Mennonites, Calvinists (mostly Dutch), and Presbyterians.

Commerce: mostly agriculture at the time, but not restricted to 1 crop as the south was. Had good ports and growing cities (New York, Philadelphia). I like to include the well respected intellectual hotbed of people there like Ben Franklin.
