Answer:

Many people speculate weather or not people who are mentally ill extremly smart and know what is actually going on or if they are just very very ill. Many people say that people who have their 'sanity' are those who are mentally blinded from what is going on, while the people who are mentally ill are the people who have the true and real insight on the world. Many people support this espically for the fact that the government will go to great lengths to hide up some cases of mentally ill people, and people who claim conspiacry things

This is a quote by Edgar Allan Poe from his story Eleonora (1842). It is well-known that the connection between madness and genius is very tight. Many famous people who contributed to the world with their great minds are thought to be mad or they suffered some other mental illness. The most familiar example is the Van Gogh's case. This genius suffered many mental disorders, such as anxiety, schizophrenia, hallucinations, etc. Even though, he is considered to be one of the most creative minds. It is very difficult to establish the line between normal and crazy, reality and imagination. Schizophrenia is treated as a very serious mental disorder. However, some people consider it to be a sign of brilliance, rather than a disorder. Is a, what we call a "mad" individual, a more complex human being or is it still a simple mental defect? This is the same question that bothered Edgar Allan Poe.
