"When the U.S. entered ...One important way this was avoided was that B) women entered the workforce in large numbers to replace the men. As the global conflict escalated on an unprecedented scale, the entire male population was mobilized. As a consequence women's role was expanded. Women were attracted to factories by posters, print advertising, and songs.

I don't think this belongs in English, but the answer is "B." That's a pretty well-known fact, as are the complications that arose when the soldiers returned from war, displacing the female workers.

Why do you think Danforth is concerned whether Proctor has told anyone else about the girls’ lies?
masha68 [24]

Answer:

- He wants to make sure that no one else knows that the girls could be lying and Danforth doesn't want to lose his position of authority.

Explanation:

In the context of 'The Crucible III,' the key reason for thinking that Danforth was disturbed regarding whether Proctor had informed anyone else regarding the lies of the girls is that 'he didn't wish to lose his position of authority.' He had an inner threat that he might lose his authority and therefore, he wanted to ensure that nobody else comes to know about the lies told by the girls in order to safeguard his position.
