An individual's perception can change as one's knowledge and experience increases. For example, one may label an individual acting aggressively as a bully until realizing that the target of the individual's aggression had been known to provoke people into fighting on a daily basis. An individual's perception can also change as one attempts to reframe personal thoughts. For example, viewing a difficult time period as a temporary challenge rather than as an absolute problem can help change one's perception of similar issues that evoke similar emotional responses.
