Anthony Babington was born in October 1561 in England. He was the son of Henry Babington of Derbyshire and the third child. He was secretly raised as a Roman catholic.

Anthony Babington's father died when he was at the age of 9 and his mother later remarried Henry Foljambe.

John Ballard was a jurist priest and was executed following his involvement in an attempt to assassinate Queen Elizabeth 1 of England
