Explanation:

Doctor Faustus is an Eliizabethan tragedy written by Christopher Malowe. It was first performed in 1604. It was based on life and death history of Faustus. Doctor Faustus was a well respected German and became dissatisfied with knowledge and religion , he decided to go into magic.

His friends Valdes and Cornelius taught him black arts, and he began his new career as a magician by summoning up Mephastophilis, a devil. He developed strong relationship with Lucifer and the twenty-four years of his deal with Lucifer end , Faustus began to dread his impending death. An old man encourage Faustus to repent, but Faustus drives him away and refused.

On the final night before the expiration of the twenty-four years, Faustus became very afraid. He pleaded for mercy, but it was too late. At midnight, a host of devils appears and carries his soul off to hell. In the morning, the scholars find Faustus’s limbs and decide to hold a funeral for him.

After reading the poem, I felt like the reason why author breaks up words and <span>separates stanzas is to  force readers to stop and read each word carefully. Every word reflects the theme and  if you will be particular to every single one, then you will se that all elements must be considered individually so that a reader can appreciate their true value.
