Answer:

In biology there's something called ecological relations . These relations can be very different from each other, but the predator-prey one is pretty simple to understand, let's think about it.

Think of an island as an example, there are birds there (prey), and there are giant spiders (predators). So when the predator starts gathering resources from the birds, eating them, the birds population will decrease with time, after some time, the prey won't be available anymore, and the population of the spiders will too, decrease with time.

This is a cycle, because when the population of spiders are low, the birds will start increasing up again, and the whole process will occur all over again.

The student is studying the movement of substances across the cell membrane. She understands that some substances combine with s
larisa86 [58]

Answer:

Facilitated diffusion

Explanation:

Facilitated diffusion is the transport of hydrophilic molecules that can not freely cross the membrane. Channel protein and many carrier proteins are in charge of this transport. When uncharged molecules cross the membrane, they do it according to their concentration gradients, going from the more concentrated side to the lower concentrated one. When ions need to cross the membrane, the process depends on an electrochemical gradient.

Facilitated diffusion is a passive transport process because they only depend on electrochemical gradients, so they do not need any energy to occur.
