Battle of Saratoga

1777 battle. It was a turning point of the war because it won the Americans the foreign assistance which was the final element they needed for victory in the war.


Battle of Bunker Hill

1175 battle. Battle in which the British won but the Americans killed twice as many as they lost.


Battle of Yorktown

last major battle of the American Revolution, which resulted in the surrender of British General Cornwallis. With the help of the French the Americans demolished the British easily with more men.


Battle of Lexington

"Shot Heard Around the World" First war of the Revolution. Americans had 80 men and lost 8 in a few minutes of fighting. The British then marched to Concord.


Battle of Concord

British under guerilla attack from Patriots on retreat back to Boston


Battle of Fort Ticonderoga

Colonists wanted control of access to Lake Champlain, Colonists lead by Ethan Allen & Benedict Arnold, Colonial victory w/out a shot fired


Battle for Boston

Washington gave Knox orders to get the cannons from Fort Ticonderoga & used them on the Br. in Boston, Br. Gen. Howe would order retreat from Boston

sneak attack by the Patriots which ended with Patriot victory


Battle of Vincennes

Patriot victory would greatly weaken the British but not defeat them in the west
