Brazil gained it independence on September 7th, 1822. Brazil got their independence because an antagonistic relationship happened between Brazil and Portugal. Brazil proved that their people could over power them.

One day, in 1808, France invaded Portugal and the Royal Family had to flee to Brazil. In 1815, Brazil ceased to be just a colony, despite still being under the domination of Portugal, when Dom João VI created the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and Algarves. Those were some steps towards independence.

For him the most heartbraking things were the thousands of people living on the streets with no job, no home, no food, the schools and churches being transformed into refuges for thousans of people. This were the matters that really affected him instead of the war itself.
