Brazil gained it independence on September 7th, 1822. Brazil got their independence because an antagonistic relationship happened between Brazil and Portugal. Brazil proved that their people could over power them.

In 1815, Brazil ceased to be just a colony, despite still being under the domination of Portugal, when Dom João VI created the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and Algarves.
