Answer:

The alpine biome is found on five of the seven continents; the taiga biome is only found on three. Both the alpine and taiga biomes have cold winters with temperatures below freezing and summers that are warm in comparison. The taiga biome has a much higher temperature range in the summer than the alpine biome.

What is the relationship between active transport and homeostasis. Please give one example of active transport in a organism, an
Masja [62]
Active transport works to conserve homeostasis. When cells are doing something they typically receive a signal causing channels to open, which in turn lets in a flood of molecules down their chemical gradients. Hope this answers the question.

If a father is affected by an X-linked dominant condition and the mother is not, which children can inherit the condition?
kaheart [24]

Answer:

only females

Explanation:

In humans, sex chromosomes in males and females are different. The sex chromosomes found in humans are X and Y chromosomes. X-linked trait is a trait which is inherited on the X- chromosome. According to the question, the trait is passed on a X-linked dominant condition, which means the condition is inherited on the abnormal dominant X-chromosome that will express itself even when in an heterozygous state with a normal X-chromosome.

Hence, a father affected by the condition will have a genotype; XY while a mother that does not have the condition will have a genotype: xx (two normal x chromosomes). Since the Father can only pass his X chromosome to his daughters and never his sons, all his daughters will inherit the condition (see the punnet square in attached image).

N.B: None of the sons will inherit the condition since the mother will pass normal X-chromosomes (x) to her sons.

You observe two populations of chimpanzees using sticks to dig termites out from nests for food. One population uses long sticks
icang [17]

Answer: B. The population using long sticks has mostly long sticks in its environment

Explanation:

Going back to the statement that reiterates the hypothesis after observations about the apes in the Introduction.

Reviewing the findings in this case, on the behavior of using sticks to dig seem to be the focus the experiment and choice length of the stick.

Making a judgment about whether or not the two finding has been supported is next step.

If there are equal numbers of short and long sticks in the environment of each population and the apes chooses one specific we can say their behavior is learned.

If the chimpanzees using short sticks have made the the sticks short by breaking long sticks then we can say this behavior is learned.

When the Young chimpanzees in both populations start out using sticks of many different sizes we can see that these variables of learning is yet to be perfected.

When individuals in the population that don’t use the common stick length for that population catch fewer termites this reveals a randomness in the behavior of interest.

At this point we can say that if the population using long sticks has mostly long sticks in its environment then there is a biased objective in the study and this does not support the hypothesis that the choice of stick length is a learned behavior.

for each pair of terms explain how the meanings of the terms differ. 1. diffusion and osmosis 2. active transport and passive tr
alex41 [277]
1) Diffusion and osmosis
the diffusion of water through a semipermeable membrane is osmosis and the movement of particles from regions of higher density to regions of lower density is diffusion
2)The passive transport does not require energy and the active transport does ,this is what makes them different
3)Endocytosis is a process for moving items that are outside of the cell into the cytoplasm of the cell. Exocytosis is a process for moving items from the cytoplasm of the cell to the outside.
