In 2007 a bill was presented in Texas Legislature attempting to limit the possibility of cities to regulate the size of lots and homes. IT was aimed to address the issue of the so-called McMansions, meaning big houses of over 3,000 square feet. Important property developers tried to make the state legislature pass a law to stop cities from enacting ordinances preventing the development of McMansions. The bill eventually failed.
