Washington was a true democrat, a man with a full republican spirit. He was aware that in the years of the Revolutionary War and in the early years of independent life, many fellow citizens were afraid that the institution of the presidency would become a tyranny. That´s why many opposed the creation of a strong federal government. So , he ruled by often consulting and listening to others, and in the end, Washington retired and warned about some authoritarian temptations of power.
