At the end of WW II the Indian leaders denied there cooperation in national congress. This is because the British government refused to give them a greater independence in exchange for support during the war.

The United State's wanted to create a Canal somewhere in the Latin America Isthmus. Because of this, the US Congress adopted the Panama Canal plan, But Colombia was not willing to cut a reasonable deal since they were asking for too much money for control of the canal. This made president Roosevelt encourage Panamanians to rebel and support their cause.
