Strands of DNA are composed of the sugar and phosphate portions of the nucleotides, while the middle portions are made of the nitrogenous bases. The nitrogenous bases on the two strands of DNA pair up, purine with a pyrimidine (A with T, G with C), and are held together by weak hydrogen bonds. Internal and external hydrogen bonds maintain the DNA molecule. The two strands of DNA stay together by H bonds that occur between similar nucleotide base pairs. Two hydrogen bonds occur among the adenosine and the thymine base pairs, and between the cytosine and the guanine, there are three.

DNA is a group of nucleotides that are linked together. The hydrogen bonds are responsible in making the double helix structure stable. The two strands of DNA are linked and stays in a stable shape because of the hydrogen bonds located between adenosine and thymine base pairs. Three hydrogen bonds are between cytosine and guanine.

Which body system includes vitamin D production and protection against pathogens and excess water loss?
Fantom [35]

Answer:

A. Integumentary system

Explanation:

The integumentary system consists of the skin, hair and nail. This system consists of the largest organ in the body. The skin helps in protection against pathogens by shielding the internal body system from external objects.

The skin also helps in Vitamin D production through sunlight.

It also helps to prevent dehydration through regulation of water loss.

The lungs remain inflated because ___________.a. intrapleural pressure is exactly equal to atmospheric pressure b. intrapleural
kkurt [141]

Answer:

Option C,  Intrapleural pressure is less than intrapulmonary pressure

Explanation:

During inspiration, the air enters the lungs due to lower pressure in the intrapulmonary or intra-alveolar  than the atmospheric pressure. During quite respiration, the intrapulmonary pressure reduces to a pressure that is 3 mm Hg lower than that of atmospheric pressure. During quiet expiration, the intrapulmonary pressure rises up to a pressure that is 3 mm Hg higher than that of atmospheric pressure. This leads to lack of air in the intrapleural space thereby producing intrapleural pressure which is lesser than that of intrapulmonary pressure.

This difference in pressure (i.e higher pressure with in the lungs than the atmosphere)  causes lungs to remain attached to the chest wall and hence looks inflated.

Hence, option C is correct
