Mass media can be for both good and bad. 'Good' media gives and overall, behind-the-scenes, and in-depth look at stories without having a bias or being controlled by a government or ruling power.
'Bad' media is controlled, has a bias, and could be used as propaganda, the spreading of potentially false and information. An example of this could be WW II propaganda in Germany.
Both can shape public opinion, for better or worse.
