Cancer occurs when signals for apoptosis are blocked or misinterpreted.

Further Explanation:

The opposite term of cell growth is referred as apoptosis. It is a major phenomenon or process by which cell death occurs. If cell detect any signal from damage cell, then programmed cell activate and cell death occur. The cell is removed from the body. It also kills virus-infected cells and pre-cancerous cell. But the developed cancer cell manages to run away from the process of apoptosis. So, cancer cell continuously divides and grow. Apoptosis mainly maintain the cell death and also maintain the immune system of a body.

Cancer cell mainly show uncontrolled growth and does not go under cell apoptosis. Since, the process of apoptosis is a programmed cell death. So, if the signal for the cell death are misinterpreted or blocked, it can cause increase growth rate of the cancer cells. The blocking of signal for programmed cell death means that the cell lives on for long time, which can easily developed the cancer.

List two reasons that enzymes are needed... why don't active
sitesexist on their own?
Yakvenalex [24]

Answer:

Enzymes are proteins in composition which are a very essential component of the metabolic reactions in the living organisms.

The properties of enzymes allow the enzymes to be used as a reaction catalyst which increases the speed of the reaction.

The enzymes lower the threshold energy of the chemical reaction and thus increases the rate of reaction.

The enzyme catalyses very complex reactions like a breakdown of complex biomolecules as well as the formation of complex biomolecules.

The active sites are present on the enzymes which bind the substrate molecule and increases the pace of reaction.

Sand that extends from a coast into open water is called a barrier spit.
a. True
b. False
AysviL [449]
It is True - Sand that extends from a coast into open water is called a barrier spit.

Barrier spits are formed when there is a deposit on the shoreline due to the lateral movement of water.

The waves are known to hit the shoreline at a particular angle which cause the lateral movement of water accompanied with the sedimentation along the coastline in the direction of the wave motion.

Which of the following characteristics is not attributed to the sympathetic division of the ANS?
guajiro [1.7K]

Answer:

C) It has a long preganglionic fibers

Explanation:

Peripheral nervous system (PNS) is the nervous system that contains nerves and ganglia outside the central nervous system (CNS). PNS is divided into:

 1. somatic (voluntary) nervous system-controls the movements of the skeletal muscles
 2. autonomic (involuntary) nervous system-controls the smooth muscles and glands and thus it is the regulator of the major body functions. It is subdivided into tree groups:
 • sympathetic ("fight and flight") system-responsible for stressful and active situations (but also in normal conditions);contains short preganglionic fibers and long postganglionic fibers.
 • parasympathetic ("rest and digest") system-opposite to sympathetic, responsible for the maintenance of body's activities at rest.
 • enteric nervous system-controls the function of the gastrointestinal tract.
