Tortillas and poetry. They go hand in hand. Books nourish the spirit, bread nourishes our bodies. Our distinct cultures nourish

each one of us, and as we know more and more about the art and literature of the different cultures, we become freer and freer. . . .
I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like to sample different ethnic foods, the breads of many many groups; just as many of us enjoy sampling books from different areas of the world. I travel to foreign countries, and I know more about myself as I learn more about my fellow human beings. Censorship imposes itself in my path of knowledge, and that activity can be justified by no one.

Which choice best describes the purpose of this text?
a) to persuade readers to oppose the censorship of literature
b) to inform readers about censorship in a specific country
c) to entertain readers with stories about censorship
d) to motivate readers to speak out against censorship

Answer:

d

Explanation:

The purpose of this text mentions literature, but it is centered around the shared culture experience that involves books, food, and behaviour. The author is clearly against censorship as he or she feels that it curtails the experience to be had when immersed in another culture.

Therefore, the main idea of this text would be to encourage anyone reading it to speak out against censorship since it has no benefits for anyone.

The position from which you write about your subject is called your C. point of view. In novels, it can be first, second, or third point of view, depending on which character is the narrator of that particular novel. A, B, and D don't really make much sense here, as they don't refer to such a position as the point of view does.
