One reason was to start settlements in the americas
1. Americans were concerned about the influence and power of big business monopolies.
2. Americans were worried about quality of life.
3. Americans were concerned about finances.
4. Americans were optimistic about the future.
I don't know what the "followings" are, but I can tell you that Tenement buildings had no interest in caring for the people who lived there. Tenement housing had its people share bathrooms, there were no lights(besides the window), and the rooms were small and cramped.
