Typically a largemouth bass will live in areas that have a lot of structure such as cypress trees, brush, over hanging limbs, rock coverings, and grassy areas. There is a diet shift from littoral invertebrates to fish that typically occurs sometime in their 1st year, which means that more nutrient rich areas will have better bait fish which makes bass either grow rapidly or stay at a constant weight. When resources are low bass tend to look or swim for running water which usually contains an abundance of food. A good bass habitat means not only homes for adult bass, but also spawning sites and nursery areas where young fish find shelter from predators while transitioning rapidly from prey to predator. Spawining is when the bass lay there eggs and bass are much more aggressivee to defend their nests and also more protective.
