Many Americans view the Victorian era as primarily conventional and even prudish, or stuffy. Considering the works you read for

this unit, do you think that opinion is accurate or inaccurate? Which texts would you reference to support your opinion? Think about the qualities your chosen texts have that support or refute the image of the Victorian era as prudish or stuffy.

Hi! :)

Many people said and thought that this period was "prudish and stuffy", it might not be totally accursed because the british considered it a period of peace and prosperity. The middle class did increase in power and number and they aspired to become part of the nobility!

Hi :)

Many Americans view the Victorian era as traditional and prudish, due to the way women are portrayed in the novels and the common themes of marriage and social classes. Nevertheless, in texts such as, Pride and Prejuice, it can be seen the way that authors introduces and presents women is not a traditional one. The women are shown to be active characters, self-enough, and capable of thinking for themselves, despite of society's idea that women are merely objects for betrothal and that they don't know anything.

Debora [2.8K]

Testimonial evidence is a statement made under oath. An example would be a witness pointing to someone in the courtroom and saying, “That's the guy I saw robbing the grocery store.” This is also called direct evidence or prima facie evidence. Physical evidence can be any object or material relevant in a crime.
