The basic belief of the Islamic religion is that its faith centered around in one God, Allah (belief in Allah as the one and only God). It is a monotheistic faith. Its history relates back to the patriarch Abraham, and to the first prophet, Adam. The last in the series of prophets that preached the same universal message of belief in one God and kindness to humanity, according to Muslims, was Muhammad (is the final prophet). He was not happy because of superstitions and social/economic injustice. The people were worshipping many gods and had forgotten the message of prophet Abraham (to worship one God). His main message is that there was no other God but Allah and that people should lead their lives in a way that was pleasing to Allah.

Allah is the Arabic word for God.

The basic belief of ISLAM is LA ILLA HA ILLALLAH MUHAMMAD UR RASOOL ALLAH that means, There is not God but ALLAH, and Muhammad (PBUH) is the Prophet of ALLAH.

This is the basic belief of a Muslim. A person cannot be a Muslim until he accepts this fact that ALLAH is one and Prophet PBUP is HIS last messenger.

There are other beliefs also, that a Muslim has to obey. Salah (offering prayers), Zakat (Giving a percentage of your wealth to poor annually), Roza (Fasting), Hajj ( Pilgrimage). But the belief of accepting ALLAH as the only God is the basic belief of Muslims.
