Romance languages

Romanesque languages, a set of modern languages that come from Latin and speak some 400 million people. They constitute the most widespread group of the Indo-European family and are part of the Italian subfamily. All of them are an evolution of the vulgar Latin spoken in the late Roman Empire and their separation from the common trunk begins to manifest between the fifth and ninth centuries.

The various language schools subdivide the group according to different criteria, both linguistic and geographical. The most common classification is as follows: 1) insular, the Sardinian (spoken in Sardinia and autonomous from other Romanesque languages since very early times); 2) continental, Balkan -Romanian and Dalmatian now disappeared-, Western European -Italian, Spanish including Ladino or Judeo-Spanish and Mozarabic, Portuguese, French, Provençal or Occitan, Catalan (spoken in Catalonia, Balearic Islands, Valencia and Andorra), Galician and Rhaeto-Romanic (Romansh from Switzerland, Ladino and Friulian from northern Italy).

OlgaM077 [116]

Answer and explanation:

Before answering this exercise we need to remember three things related to grammar:

1. In spanish, a conjugated verb (verb nucleus) codifies aspect, mood, voice, tense and number.

2. We use personal pronouns to identify the subject or object of a sentence; the subject also can be expressed by a noun (substantive).

3. The conjugated verb need to match with the subject of the sentence in number, no matter if it is expressed by a personal pronoun or by a noun.

<h2>SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE </h2>

Simple present in spanish is used to express:

  • Things that are happening in this precisely moment

Example: Yo como pizza (I eat pizza)

  • Things that are commonly true

Example: Los estudiantes hacen la tarea (Students do homework)

  • Habits and routines

Example: Yo desayuno banana (I have banana for breakfast)

  • Future actions that are totally planed and scheduled

Example: Viajamos a casa (We travel to home)

<h2>ANSWERS </h2>

We are asked to conjugate the verbs tener and venir in simple present, so here there are:

<h2>TENER </h2><h3><em>Singular </em></h3>
  • Yo TENGO
  • Tú TIENES
  • Él/Ella TIENE
<h3><em>Plural </em> </h3>
  • Nosotros TENEMOS
  • Ustedes TIENEN
  • Ellos TIENEN
<h2>VENIR </h2><h3><em>Singular </em></h3>
  • Yo VENGO
  • Tú VIENES
  • Él/ella VIENE
<h3><em>Plural </em></h3>
  • Nosotros VENIMOS
  • Ustedes VIENEN
  • Ellos VIENEN
