Answer:

a. The use of analogy emphasizes the challenges those running for office face.

Explanation:

With these words, Bacon wanted to show how the path to the position that the men were applying for was very difficult, but the trajectory within those positions was more arduous and even more difficult, where responsibilities and obligations became pains that generated more pain, besides furthermore, it shows that the path is full of indignities, but it is through them that men manage to achieve dignity within their office.

In summary, we can say that the use of the analogy emphasizes the challenges that job candidates face.

What did American leaders during the Cold War think about the political situation in Vietnam?
Sidana [21]

They thought that if Communist leaders took control of Vietnam, all of Southeast Asia would ultimately ally with the Soviet Union.

Explanation:

During the Cold War period, Vietnam was highly divided internally, having the Communists on one side, and the King on the other side. Both sides enjoyed big support, with the Communists dominating in the north, and the King in the south. The Communists wanted to make Vietnam a Communist country and ally with the Soviets, while the King wanted to preserve his royal power and be in good relations with the Western democracies.

The United States entered a war with Vietnam, and the main reason for that was to stop the spread of Communism in the country, as they feared that once Vietnam is Communist and allied with the Soviets, the rest of Southeast Asia will follow. The Communists in Vietnam manged to win the war, embarrassing the United States, and established Communism in the country. The results were not as devastating in the region as the United States' officials thought they would be though.

Countries in Southeast Asia that adopted Communism were:

  • Cambodia
  • Laos

Countries that didn't accepted Communism were:

  • Thailand
  • Burma
  • Malaysia
  • Indonesia
  • Singapore
  • the Philippines
  • Brunei

How did Social Darwinism support Nazi ideology?
notka56 [123]
Darwinism, as you probably know, is the idea that creatures grow and adapt to all the stresses of life and our wolrd and in doing so, allow future generations to flourish.

Survival of the fittest was not Darwin's quote, but rather Herbert Spencer's, who said that if things need to change to survive, than those creatures we see today must have been the ones who changed the best, or were the fittest to survive. He created social Darwinism, saying that governments should not restrict big businesses, because those businesses that are fit and ready to survive will, and those who aren't won't.

In America, we used that with our racial issues by saying that the race that is physically sstronger and ready to adapt to its environment (whities), will find success, and those who fail socially (darkies) must have been inferior. It justified putting down minorities.
