The piece of wood is 4 yards long.

There are 3 ft in a yd.
4 yd = 4 * 3 ft = 12 ft

There are 12 in in a ft.
12 ft = 12 * 12 in = 144 in

The 4-yd length is the same as 144 in length.

To find how many 6 in pieces fit in a 144 in piece, we divide 144 by 6.

(144 in)/(6 in) = 24

Answer: He can cut 24 pieces.

If
1 yard=3 ft
4 yards=12 ft
1 ft=12 inches
12ft=144 inches
144/6=24
24 6-inch pieces

Answer:

  • Tyler
  • 2 hundredths of a mile

Step-by-step explanation:

The graph is a little difficult to read, but we note that there are 6 grid lines between times that are 2 minutes apart. So, each grid line stands for 2/6 = 1/3 minute.

At the 1-mile mark, the graph crosses 1 grid line above 8 minutes, indicating it takes Tyler 8 1/3 minutes to run 1 mile.

Then in 10 minutes, Tyler will run ...

  distance = speed · time = 1 mile/(8 1/3 min) · 10 min

  = 1/(25/3)·10 = 10·3/25 = 30/25 = 1.2 . . . . miles

__

The equation tells you that Elena runs each mile in 8.5 minutes. To see how far she runs in 10 minutes, we can solve ...

  10 = 8.5x

  x = 10/8.5 ≈ 1.18 . . . . miles

So, Tyler runs farther in 10 minutes by a distance of ...

  1.20 -1.18 = 0.02 . . . . miles

given examples of relations that have the following properties 1) relexive in some set A and symmetric but not transitive 2) equ
rodikova [14]

Answer: 1) R = {(a, a), (а,b), (b, a), (b, b), (с, с), (b, с), (с, b)}.

It is clearly not transitive since (a, b) ∈ R and (b, c) ∈ R whilst (a, c) ¢ R. On the other hand, it is reflexive since (x, x) ∈ R for all cases of x: x = a, x = b, and x = c. Likewise, it is symmetric since (а, b) ∈ R and (b, а) ∈ R and (b, с) ∈ R and (c, b) ∈ R.

2) Let S=Z and define R = {(x,y) |x and y have the same parity}

i.e., x and y are either both even or both odd.

The parity relation is an equivalence relation.

a. For any x ∈ Z, x has the same parity as itself, so (x,x) ∈ R.

b. If (x,y) ∈ R, x and y have the same parity, so (y,x) ∈ R.

c. If (x.y) ∈ R, and (y,z) ∈ R, then x and z have the same parity as y, so they have the same parity as each other (if y is odd, both x and z are odd; if y is even, both x and z are even), thus (x,z)∈ R.

3) A reflexive relation is a serial relation but the converse is not true. So, for number 3, a relation that is reflexive but not transitive would also be serial but not transitive, so the relation provided in (1) satisfies this condition.

Step-by-step explanation:

1) By definition,

a) R, a relation in a set X, is reflexive if and only if ∀x∈X, xRx ---> xRx.

That is, x works at the same place of x.

b) R is symmetric if and only if ∀x,y ∈ X, xRy ---> yRx

That is if x works at the same place y, then y works at the same place for x.

c) R is transitive if and only if ∀x,y,z ∈ X, xRy∧yRz ---> xRz

That is, if x works at the same place for y and y works at the same place for z, then x works at the same place for z.

2) An equivalence relation on a set S, is a relation on S which is reflexive, symmetric and transitive.

3) A reflexive relation is a serial relation but the converse is not true. So, for number 3, a relation that is reflexive but not transitive would also be serial and not transitive.

The given figure is a parallelogram find the value of x and y
e-lub [12.9K]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

In a parallelogram, diagonals bisect each other.

7y - 2 = 5y + 4

7y - 2 - 5y = 4

2y - 2 = 4

2y = 4 +2

2y = 6

y = 6/2

y = 3

3x +2 = 23

3x = 23 - 2

3x = 21

x = 21/3

x = 7

azamat

Answer:

In M/n(x) x cannot be 0

Step-by-step explanation:

If any number is divided by 0, then that number is undefined and has no answer, so in math this is always avoided by not dividing with 0.
