In general, the British had a relatively good relationship with the Indians for at least a little bit, as they understood the importance of forming treaties for their own survival. The Spanish were less concerned with this and were more likely to wage attacks.
They were all political thinkers and founding fathers during the American Revolution. None of them were ever president, and they weren't even alive when the colonies were founded.
