During World War II, President Truman was notified of the successful test of the atomic bomb, and had to make a decision because he knew it would be a devastating weapon, but it would also guarantee the end of the war.

Even though it was a conflicting decision, Truman believe that the Japanese were cruel and not civilized, and Americans should act the same way in order to fight the country.

So based on these facts, he made the decision to hit both Hiroshima and Nagasaki, in 1945.
