That '3' will stretch the graph vertically, and that +8 will shift the whole graph upward by 8 units.  Why not try graphing these 2 functions?

Answer:

The correct option is A.

Step-by-step explanation:

The functions are

F(x)=x^2               ... (1)

G(x)=3x^2+8       .... (2)

The vertical stretch and compression is defined by

G(x)=kF(x)

If |k|>1, then function F(x) stretched vertically and if |k|<1, then function F(x) compressed vertically.

On comparing (1) and (2), we get k=3>1. It means graph of F(x) stretched vertically.

The shifting of function is defined as

G(x)=F(x)+b

If b>0, then function F(x) shifts b units upward and if b<0, then function f(x) shifts b units downward.

On comparing (1) and (2), we get b=8>0. It means graph of F(x) shifts 8 units up.

The graph of G(x) is the graph of F(x) stretched vertically and shifted 8 units up.

Therefore option A is correct.

Jamie used the distributive property to find the product of s(t) and h(t). His work was marked incorrect. Identify Jamie's mista
SSSSS [86.1K]

Complete Question:

Jamie used the distributive property to find the product of s(t) and h(t). His work was marked incorrect. Identify Jamie's mistake. What advice would you give Jamie to avoid this mistake in the future?

s(t)•h(t)= (3x-4)(2x-8)

= 6x² - 24x -8x - 32

= 6x² - 32x - 32

Answer:

Jamie made a mistake in his second line (6x² - 24x -8x - 32), by wrongly multiplying the operation signs. The last term should be +32, not -32.

Advice: Jamie should take note of the rule that applies when multiplying signs.

Step-by-step Explanation::

To find out where exactly Jamie made mistake, let's find the product of the given functions, step by step:

s(t)•h(t)= (3x-4)(2x-8)

Using distributive property, do the following:

3x(2x - 8) -4(2x - 8)

3x*2x -3x*8 -4*2x -4*-8

6x^2 - 24x - 8x + 32 (this is where Jamie made mistake. -4 * -8 = +32. NOT -32.)

Add like terms

6x^2 - 32x + 32

Jamie made a mistake in multiplying negative × negative. The last term in "6x² - 24x -8x - 32", should be +32. Negative × negative = +.

Therefore, it is advisable for Jamie to always take note of the rule that applies when multiplying signs.

In the triangle below, what is the measure of A?<br> ОА. 180°<br> Ос. 30°<br> ор. 90°
ICE Princess25 [194]

Answer:

60°

Step-by-step explanation:

Total angle measurement for a triangle is 180°

Equilateral triangle measures 60 on all angles. (60 + 60 + 60 = 180°)

This triangle is equilateral so it's angle is 60°.

Why is it equilateral? Because all sides of the triangle are equal (10 on all sides).

Hope this helps
