Answer:

Math Problems: 20

Science Problems: 13

Step-by-step explanation:

First define your variables.

Let m = # of math problems

Let s = # of science problems

m + s = 33   <-- Because there are 33 total problems

m = s + 7   <-- Because there are 7 more math problems

Solve by substitution method, replace m in the first equation with s + 7

s + 7 + s = 33

2s + 7 = 33  <-- Combine like terms

    - 7     -7

     2s = 26

       s = 13  <-- Divide by 2

We now have s, so we can plug it back into an original equation to find m

m = s + 7  =>  m = 13 + 7 =>  m = 20

So,

Math Problems: 20

Science Problems: 13

To confirm, we note that 20 + 13 = 33 so both equations are satisfied.

Good luck

The spinner has 8 different rewards and the gift card is 1/8
olga_2 [115]
The probability of winning the gift card in the first place is always 1/8 no matter how many people have spun the gift card.  That being said, by the same principal, the change of them both winning a gift card is 2/16 which reduces to 1/8.  So the probability stays the same no matter what. If there was a limited number of gift cards, the probability would change with each spin and each win.  But it didn't say the number of cards available changes, just that it stays 1/8.
