Exercise 6.11 presents the results of a poll evaluating support for a generic "National Health Plan" in the US in 2019, reportin

g that 55% of Independents are supportive. If we wanted to estimate this number to within 1% with 90% confidence, what would be an appropriate sample size?

Answer:

The sample size is   n =6697

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question we are told that

    The  population proportion is  p =  0.55

    The  margin of error is  E  =  0.01

Given that the confidence level is  then the level of significance is mathematically represented as

      \alpha = (100 -90)\%

=>   \alpha = 0.10

Generally from the normal distribution table the critical value  of  \frac{\alpha }{2} is

   Z_{\frac{\alpha }{2} } =  1.645

Gnerally the sample size is mathematically represented as

     n = \frac{[Z_{\frac{\alpha }{2} }]^2 * p(1-p)}{E^2}

=>   n = \frac{1.645^2 * 0.55(1-0.55)}{0.01^2}

=>    n = \frac{1.645^2 * 0.55(1-0.55)}{0.01^2}

=>    n =6697

8 \frac{2}{5}  - 4 \frac{3}{5}  =  \frac{42}{5}  -  \frac{23}{5}  =  \frac{19}{5}  = 3 \frac{4}{5}

Write a rule for the linear function in the table.
JulijaS [17]

Answer:

I guess that you want to know the transformations:

We start with:

f(x) = y = 4*x + 3

a)the transformed function is:

f(x) = y = -4*x - 3

So the sign changed.

This means that we go from (x, y) to (x, - y)

This is a reflection over the x-axis which changes the sin of the y component.

b) Now we go to f(x) = 4*x + 3

So the coefficient in the leading term changed.

This is a horizontal contraction:

A horizontal contraction of factor K for the function g(x) is: g(K*x)

In our case, we have:

f(K*x) = 4*(k*x) + 3 = x + 3

4*k*x = x

4*k = 1

k = 1/4

Then the transformation is an horizontal contraction of scale factor 1/4.

Carly and rob combined their dvd collection now they have 42 dvds all together. Carly had 4 more dvds than rob how many dvds did
Wewaii [24]
If Carly had more DVDs than Rob then you would subtract her amount away from the total. 42-4=38
