Because there is more to life than just money. For example, you cannot buy love with money. Maybe you can buy someone who loves you for your money. But not someone who loves you for who you are. You cannot buy love with money.

Money isn’t everything in life, because money can’t buy happiness. The richest person in the world, can be lonely and have problems just as people without money. Rich and famous people are actually lonelier than poor people because no one really cares for them, their mostly just gold-diggers or just with them for fame. Money can’t buy love, true love, unconditional love. It can only be unconditional if it has nothing to do with money, because if it’s money-based love then you only love the person for their money, and if that goes you no longer love them. Money can buy food, water, and a roof over your head, so yes, it is necessary, but it isn’t everything.
