<span>- - Star to simplify both sides of the equation.

</span>18-4x=-2&#10;

<span>- - Now you have top subtract 18 from both sides.
</span>
-4x+18-18=-2-18
- - Solve:
-4x=-20&#10;

<span>- - And divide both sides by -4.

- - Solve:
</span>\frac{-4x}{-4} =  \frac{-20}{-4}

x=5

First u would take the 18 and - it on both sides
18 - 18 - 4x = -2 - 18
which would be
-4x = -20
then u would divide 4 on bothe sides
-4x/4 = -20/4
which would give u
- x = - 5
this is the answer for the negative x
for positive u would flip the answer
so
x = 5 which then = 4
x=5 is ur answer
hope this helps or u understand wat im sayin

Find y when x = 9 if y varies directly as the square of x, and y = 245 when x = 7.
Lera25 [3.4K]

Step-by-step explanation:

y is directly proportional to x^2.

This means that y = kx^2, where k is a real constant.

When x = 7, y = 245:

245 = k(7)^2 = 49k. By division, k = 5.

Now we know that y = 5x^2, when x = 9, y = 5(9)^2 = 5 * 81 = 405.

You should see the denominator of the function in this case.
 6x ^ 2-7x-3
 We see where the denominator becomes zero:
 6x ^ 2-7x-3 = 0
 x1 = 3/2
 x2 = -1 / 3
 The function is discontinuous in those two points.
 Therefore, it has vertical asymptotes in:
 x1 = 3/2
 x2 = -1 / 3
 answer:
 has vertical asymptotes in:
 x1 = 3/2
 x2 = -1 / 3
