It is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world; so far, I mean, as we are now

at liberty to do it; for let me not be understood as capable of patronizing infidelity to existing engagements. I hold the maxim no less applicable to public than to private affairs, that honesty is always the best policy. I repeat it, therefore, let those engagements be observed in their genuine sense. But, in my opinion, it is unnecessary and would be unwise to extend them.
The excerpt above is from George Washington's Farewell Address, which was printed in Philadelphia's American Daily Advertiser on September 19, 1796. What issue was Washington addressing in the passage above?
A. He did not want the United States to become too involved in the affairs of other countries.
B. He did not want the United States to export goods to other countries.
C. He wanted the United States to make more alliances with other countries.
D. He wanted the United States to end the slave trade.

Which statement is not true about the victory at Fort Ticonderoga?
zhuklara [117]

Originally known as Fort Carillion, it was built in 1755 by French settlers, as a military base. Due to the important position linking Canada and the valley of the Hudson River, the British attempted to conquer it in 1758, having suffered great losses from the fewer French troops. However, next year, British manage to conquer and rename it to Fort Ticonderoga. In May 1775 during the French and Indian wars, Benedict Arnold joined Ethan Allen and Mountain Boys of Vermont, and at dawn attacked and won the fortress from the small and sleepy garrison of the British.

Although it was a small conflict, this was the first victory of the colonialists in the revolutionary war against the British, it had to be a morale booster and enabled key artillery for the continental army in the first year of the war. Next year. this artillery was used during the successful siege of Boston.

The right answer is B. It provided cannon and weapons General Washington later used in Boston.

A weakness of all of the Muslim Empire, including the Ottomans, the Mughals, and the Safavids, was that they all were focused on
Svetlanka [38]
This is true, not having a navy has shown itself to be a weakness of many nations/civilizations in the past. And there are also good reasons why this is so. Not having a navy strongly impacts a civilizations ability to maneuver around certain points and go around them. It also limits the ability to trade with other natons. Not to mention the additional value of having the firepower of ships (those that had cannons later on at least).
