<span>The Roman Catholic Counter-Reformation was intended to fight back against the Protestant Reformation: to reform and strengthen the Catholic Church against this great Protestant threat, partly by purging itself of the corruption and quesitonable practices that had given rise to the Proetstant Reformation in the first place. </span>

The Continental System was a decree by the Emperor of France, Napoleon Bonaparte which was made to limit British trade and bankrupt the country.
At his mightiest, Napoleon controlled almost every powerful country in Europe, except for Britain and Russia. He found it difficult to directly attack Britain and instead wanted to bankrupt it.
However, this eventually backfired and left France in a very bad economic conditions and Britain took advantage of this.
Many smaller countries that France had annexed, took up arms against Napoleon and began to fight. With a weakened economic position, Napoleon eventually lost the Empire.
He launched Operation Linebacker. He bombed Hanoi and Haiphong that led to the
destruction of the North’s economic and industrial centers. He continued the bombings and also threatened to withdraw U.S. and end the agreement. Nixon halted the bombings and signed the
Paris Peace Accord that ended U.S. involvement in the area.
