Read this sentence from the passage. Miss Sullivan had tried to impress it upon me that "m-u-g" is mug and that "w-a-t-e-r" is w

ater, but I persisted in confounding the two. Which statement best describes how this sentence functions in the passage? It develops the idea that learning language is not always an easy process for Keller. It implies that Keller is eager to learn but not fully focused during her lessons from Sullivan. It foreshadows the idea that Sullivan eventually loses her patience with Keller. It introduces the idea that Sullivan is a masterful teacher who changes Keller's life.

Shari is taking notes in preparation for her oral presentation on the impacts of excessive homework on high school students. She
VLD [36.1K]

The correct option is C. It shows a positive effect of the solution.

The topic of the presentation is the impact of excessive homework on highschool. The word "excessive" implies that the amount of homework given at highschool has a negative effect on students. The solution would be to have "less homework" and she finds out a positive effect of such a solution. If students are given less homework, they will have time to do other enriching activities and spend time bonding with their loved ones.

100 points! I don't understand how a 9th grade problem can be so easy... So all I have to do is replace the underlined words???
Serga [27]

Yep, that's basically the whole task. To change the passage to become more 'upbeat', yet still share similar words to the previous words, the following could be changed to...

trudged= plodded

shuffled= staggered

scrutinised= questioned

sparse=meagre

closed in= confined

anxious= eager (Although eager and anxious generally do not share a similar definition, in this context they do as 'anxious' is used to describe being excited to do something, and share the same meaning of 'Very eager or concerned to do something or for something to happen'

pried= wrenched

confronted= suddenly exposed

puzzling=baffling

something=remarkable

used=castoff

questioned=pondered

anxious=uneasy
